For traditional academics, getting your bachelors degree online sounds like a horrific idea. But perhaps it isn't as bad as they may think. Of course, there are the fake degree mills out there, those that crank out phony diplomas, but that is not what we are talking about here.

No, you don't get the same interaction in the intellectual community, the ability to engage your peers in intellectual debates, or the same type of guidance from professors, but you do get the education you need to upgrade your job skills. But, even the exchange between students and teachers is changing all the time, what with the development of technology in streaming video.
For many young people, the desire to go to school, is secondary to providing some sort of living for themselves and once started down that road it is hard to backup and head off to college. Unfortunately bills have an annoying habit of building up without you even realizing it, until it becomes nearly impossible to step back and start your college career.
But today there is a way out for those who want to continue their education and also work to provide some financial base for themselves. Many kids when they get out of school and get a job, continue to live at home, so for them it is even easier to sign up for an online degree, an online bachelors degree or to start with, an online associates degree.
Today there is a whole new era of possibilities. This is really one of the first generations that can truly get a quality education from their personal computer at home. Now that is not to say, that going the traditional route may not still be the preferable way to go, but online courses can fill in when it is not possible to take time out of your life to devote to school.
With online college courses you have the ability to schedule your courses, so that it is possible to continue on working and get your education at the same time.
Hopefully, no one who signs up for a legitimate online college course, thinks that it will be done with less work than a degree at a 'brick and mortar classroom'. The work is still there, it is just done from your computer, instead of a classroom setting. You will still have due dates to get your work in, times for group discussions and certain times to take tests.
So, even though you are at home, you still have to work hard to get your bachelors degree, online or off. And when you think about it, it should. But the satisfaction of finishing your degree or certificate will be well worth the effort that you have put forth continuing your education.
The new era of online education, primary, secondary and college or university, is growing by leaps and bounds. The reason for this is the new technology that is available today. An online college degree can be had while the student continues to work and pay the bills.
